NEW Line of Purses & Accessories

An old pair of jeans, a butterfly shirt, and a decoration here and there,
woven and sown together created these funky totes.

Flower Purse Power

Inspired by the Red Hat Society, I used a purple/red/lavender painting of a flower as a centre piece.
Framed with Satin strips, it became a piece of Art that is functional as well.
The tote and fabric I used is all recycled material.

YesterdayWhenIwasYoung.jpg

Yesterday when They were young

When my girls were little, they wore dresses of this fabric.
The pink lace is hand-made and comes from Holland.
The soft green is also hand-made and a handkerchief-edge.
The flower I cut out of a tablerunner.
The shell-brooch I painted and decorated with fresh-water-pearls I bought on Grandville Island.

Purple and Mauve are my favorite colours.
These purses are created around the embroidered flowers on silk a friend gave to me.
The satin and taffeta are all remnants of bridal/graduation wear.
The beaded pieces are too long straps, cut off while altering a grad dress last year.
They came in handy for a finishing touch.

The lining was defining.
So, I found pink, yellow and turquoise to match.
Geometry plays a role in this summery beach/shopping bag.

The base I used for this sweet little tote is a leftover of an outfit I made for my daughter.
I decorated it with pieces of lace I found in the Mennonite thriftstore and a very old embroidered handkerchief out of my collection.
I also used strips of old lace curtains I used to have in Holland.
The brooch I made from shells and beads..

I refurbised this tote with leftover fabrics from my children's bedroom curtains.
To embellish it, I used samples of embroidery a quilter friend gave me, together with lace ribbons and other fabric remnants in matching colours.
I had fun getting rid of all sorts, 'not quite enough' buttons.

This beautiful coloured tote is made from a few different Saris and lace I found in a thriftstore years ago.
I added the gems and buttons to enhance the powerful statment.
Very time consuming, but fun to make.

Vintage Rose

This multipurpose tote is made of left-overs from my daughters bedroom curtains.
One of my customers donated handmade doilies which I used for the outside.
I often admire the handywork and the patience of the ladies in the olden days.

Vintage Blue Crochet

Made from the 'Valances' that were hanging in my blue-white kitchen windows in Holland years ago.
The ruffle I made from pyjamas, and the lining used to be a kitchen table cloth.
The string on the bottom is a strap of a brides dress.

A pair of linen pants found a second life in this useful little tote.
A doilie, a table runner, and a lacy napkin gave this bag a pretty facelift.
